As a Health Canada-funded project, the CIHC is responsible for providing quarterly reports outlining activities and progress to date. As another measure of accountability, the CIHC Secretariat appointed Dr. Scott Reeves at the University of Toronto to supervise the evaluation of the CIHC project in its entirety.
The CIHC evaluation undertakes a formative (process) and summative evaluation of the activities, outputs and impacts of the CIHC. Evaluation reports were submitted in June 2007, 2008, and 2009. During 2009-2012, CIHC’s evaluation will provide specific focus on the effects of the CIHC’s knowledge management and interactions with partners and stakeholders, and longer term sustainability options for CIHC. In order to tie inputs, outputs and outcomes to long-term measurable impacts on patients, healthcare providers and systems, evaluation planning is predicated on CIHC’s sustainability as an organization, requiring follow up over a number of years.
