CIHC would like to thank Dennis Sharpe, Grace Mickelson, Liz Harrison, Keith De'Bell and Joan Sargeant who completed their tenure on the CIHC Steering Committee in August 2009. We will certainly miss their energy and input around the Steering Committee table. At the same time, we welcome new members including Frederick Montpetit (Chief Nursing Officer, Nunavut Territory), Rita Karakas (CEO, The abuelaish Foundation), William Lahey (Director of the Dalhousie Health Law Institute and former Deputy Minister of Environment and Labour, Nova Scotia) and Valerie Banfield (Faculty and E-learning Content Coordinator for Nova Scotia Health).

In October 2009, the CIHC began collaborating with the National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health (NCCDH) to further develop and test ajoint Partnerships Strategy that will be used not only by the CIHC and the NCCDH, but will be a tool for all not-for-profit/arms length/NGO type organizations, as they move towards developing partnerships. Look for this document to be release in the near future.

En octobre 2009 le CPIS a amorcé une collaboration avec le Centre de collaboration nationale des déterminants de la santé (CCNDS) en vue d'améliorer et de tester une stratégie commune de partenariat qui servira non seulement au CPIS et au CCNDS, mais servira également d'outil à tous les organismes de type « à but non lucratif/indépendant/ONG » qui souhaitent établir des partenaraits. Surveillez le lancement de ce document treè prochainenement.

Congratulations to Keith De'Bell, former CIHC Steering Committee Member, who was recently appointed the first Associate Vice-President Research at St. Francis Xavier University. We know Keith will be a greate asset to St. FX and the community of Antigonish.

As of October 1, 2009 the UofT Office of Interprofessional Education (IPE) is now a Centre for IPE. The letters of agreement are signed and the search for a permanent director is on. In establishing the Centre as a partnership between the University of Toronto (UofT) and its 13 affiliated hospitals, the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Networ, the Centre will embrace an expanded mandate to foster interprofessional collaboration in the practice seting. Congratulations! We look forward to further collaboration and cooperation.

Depuis le 1 octobre 2009, le Bureau de la formation interprofessionnelle de l'Université de Toronto est officiellement un Centre de formation interprofessionnelle. Les lettres d'entente sont signées et la recherche d'un directeur permanent est en cours. Dans le cadre du réseau « Tronto Academic Health Sciences Network » qui relie l'univerité de Toronto et ses 13 hûpitaux affiliés, le Centre disposera d'un mandant élargi visant â promouvoir la collaboration interprofessionnelle au niveau de la pratique.
