Amazing and innovative work has been done by CIHC’s academic community over the past three years. CIHC members have developed key papers and documents, presented at conferences around the world and pushed interprofessional education further than it has ever been before.

Now we're ready to focus our attention on the practice setting, and to do so, we are engaging the expertise of a broad range of individuals working for and within the practice setting. Rather than having the CIHC Steering Committee or Secretariat decide what information and materials would help move collaborative practice forward, these individuals will set the tone for our move into the practice setting by sharing their ideas, developing new materials and engaging in discussion to inform the organization as a whole.

CIHC Mainstream’s Focus:
  • Interprofessional Collaboration
  • Teamwork

Mainstream Goals:
  1. To act as an Advisory Committee to the CIHC Steering Committee – providing expert advice from practicing health providers on how to make collaborative practice a reality in Canada.
  2. Develop ‘how to’ and informational materials written by health providers and patients, for health providers and patients.
  3. Link with students, health providers, patient faculty and others, to focus on issues that are outside of the academic sphere.
  4. Develop plain, accessible language for interprofessional collaboration.
  5. Increase the involvement of Community Colleges in interprofessional collaboration.
  6. Engage the Territories to help us understand the needs of the north, and learn from their experience.
  7. Anything else you, the Mainstream Advisory Team, feel is important.
