CIHR Funded Knowledge Synthesis
The Collaborative secured its first project funding from the 2008 Knowledge Translation Competition as advanced by the
Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). The knowledge synthesis was conducted from January 2009 to January 2010 and
examined current evidence on the impact of IPE and collaborative practice on HHR outcomes.
We synthesized the evidence from a number of sources such as the peer-reviewed literature, reports from governments and other
agencies and reports from projects conducted under Health Canada's Interprofessional Education for Collaborative Patient-Centred
Practice (IECPCP) initiative.
Four areas of impact emerged:
- Workplace quality
- Provider satisfaction
- Student clinical placement & graduate employment choice
- Cost benefits
